As with any not-for-profit organization, JASC relies heavily on its many volunteers. Some of the areas in which we can always use an extra hand are listed here. For more detailed descriptions about available positions, please check out the profiles on Volunteer Match.

Adult Day Services – Lead or assist with group activities such as physical exercise, arts & crafts, bingo, and conversing with elderly clients.  Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteering even one day a week is a great help for our seniors. Temporarily Suspended – Out of the House – Program for independent seniors, providing exercise, and educational opportunities, as well as activities designed for active adults that encourage socialization meets each Wednesday from 10 am to 1 pm at JASC, 4427 N Clark, Chicago (we ask volunteers to arrive at 9:30 am and stay until 1:30 pm to allow for set up and clean up.) The ideal volunteer is kind, friendly, and has many stories and life experiences to share with our seniors. Volunteer responsibilities include serving food and drinks during Out of the House, light clean-up, and chatting with members of the program. Temporarily Suspended – Golden Diners – Assist with serving lunches to seniors.  Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to noon. Volunteering even one day a week is greatly appreciated.  Please call  773-275-0097.

Student Projects – JASC’s special events are a unique way for students to earn community service credit hours. In addition, students may be able to create their own community service projects. Students may choose to devote holiday/break time or after-school hours to their project. For details on student volunteer opportunities, please email or call our office at 773-275-0097.

Bulk Mailing – Assist with mass mailings by stuffing, folding, and labeling. Generally our “mailing parties” are held on a weekday morning, and last 2 to 3 hours.  Volunteers are called as needed. Please call 773-275-0097 ext. 226 to have your name added to our volunteer list.

Special Events – JASC holds several special fundraising events throughout the year.  There are a variety of ways to help ensure that these events run successfully, from setting up chairs and helping with decorations to acting as hosts and guides to our special visitors. If you are interested in helping with a special event or learning about an upcoming event, please email or call our office at 773-275-0097.

Special Expertise –Do you have a special area of expertise and some time to share with JASC? Join one of our special committees such as Marketing, Legacy Center, Finance, Space Utilization or other operational committees.
