On JASC letterhead: March 13, 2020 To all JASC community members, As the situation around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, I wanted to reach out to you about actions we are taking in response to this global health crisis. Our number one concern is for the health and safety of our employees, clients, members and supporters. We want to assure you that we are closely following the current guidance from the CDC, both local and state departments of public health and the Illinois Department of Aging to ensure we are taking the right actions to protect those we serve. • At the outset, we communicated to staff and guests the importance ofremaining at home if they experience respiratory symptoms, fever or cough. • Reminding all the best defense against any virus is frequent and thorough handwashing. • Increasing the frequency of cleaning our public areas with approved disinfectants. • Postponing large-scale events such as Soup & Rice (April 3 rd ) and All Camps Reunion (end of April). Beginning Monday, March 16 th we will implement the following additional changes: • Each JASC visitor (staff, clients, & guests) will be tested with a temporal thermometer to ensure they are not running a fever. Each individual will also be directed to immediately wash their hands with soap and water. • All Tampopo Kai classes will be suspended through April 17 th . • All adult Japanese language classes will be suspended through the end of the month. • All other Facility Users will be implementing their own health and hygiene protocols while in the JASC facility. • Adult Day and In-Home Support Services will continue until further notice per guidance by the Illinois Department of Aging and the Illinois Department of Public Health, while adhering to the heightened health protocols adopted by JASC. • JASC workers with the ability to work remotely are encouraged to consider this option at the current moment. We will continue to monitor the situation closely. Thank you for your continued support. Please stay healthy, Michael Takada Chief Executive Officer
