JASC Legacy Center Presents: Finding Your Japanese Roots

Learn how to research your family history!

JASC’s Legacy Center Manager Ryan Yokota will discuss
how to research your Japanese American family history, based on his experiences searching for his ancestral roots in the mainland US, Hawai’i, Hiroshima, Fukushima, and Okinawa. This talk will discuss how to file FOIA requests to obtain wartime incarceration papers, how to access US and Japanese federal records, how to order family koseki, and how to build your Japanese/Nikkei genealogy.
