The Donguri Kai program at JASC is expanding and we are looking for an instructor to teach Japanese language and culture to children at the New Learner level for the 2021-2022 school year.

Japanese Language Instructor
for Elementary School Age Children 

The Donguri Kai program at JASC is expanding and we are looking for an instructor to teach Japanese language and culture to children at the New Learner level for the 2021-2022 school year. 

Job Description:

• Teach the New Learner level class for Donguri Kai K- 2nd grade and/or the New Learner level class for 6th-8th-grade children who are starting to learn Japanese as a second language. 
• Instruction will primarily be in English
• Teach basic conversation, comprehension, reading, writing, and culture through various activities.
• Plan, prepare, and instruct activities i.e. –  songs, games, crafts, cooking, and seasonal/cultural events
• Communicate with participant’s families and JASC staff as needed

• LOCATION 

• Weekly class via zoom
• In-person event/classes on school holidays at t JASC 4427 N.Clark St. Chicago, IL 60640, or other designated locations

WORK RESPONSIBILITIES

• Hold a 60-min class weekly for

• 10 weeks – Fall session
• 10 weeks – Winter session
• 6 – 8 weeks – Spring session
• Create a lesson plan, prepare materials, and conduct weekly classes
• Communicate with participants’ parents for announcements, preparation for class, and homework as needed
• Plan and conduct classes online with possible availability for in-person events. 
• Attend Donguri Kai online teacher’s meetings (1 -2 times) every session
• Keep track of your work hours and the expenditure of purchased items. Create and submit the invoice to JASC
• Help at JASC for events applicable to Donguri students and families. 

WORK STATUS:

• Independent contractor
• Must have appropriate legal working status to work in the US

START DATE: September of 2021

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Fluent in both Japanese and English. Must be able to read and write in Japanese.
• Technical skills to set up and use Zoom.
• Skills to create slides, documents, and materials with a computer. 
• Experience working (including volunteer work) with children.
• Passion to teach children Japanese language and culture.

どんぐり会プログラムは、需要に沿ってクラスを増設しています。2021-2022年度より、New Learner クラスを開設するにあたり、日本語インストラクターを募集します。

職務内容：

• キンダーから2年生の低学年児童、または6年生から8年生の高学年生で、日本語を第二言語として学びたい生徒に、初歩の日本語を教える。
• 授業中のインストラクションや説明など、大部分で英語を使用する。
• 基本的な日常会話フレーズ、日常会話の理解、ひらがなカタカナの読み書き、日本文化をいろいろな活動をとおして教える。

• 授業の学習活動の計画、準備、遂行。例えば、歌、ゲーム、クラフト、料理、日本文化、季節行事のイベントなどの活動
  ●生徒および保護者とのコミュニケーションと、JASCマネージメントへの連絡などを行う。

勤務地：
●通常の、毎週の授業はZoomによるオンライン授業
●学校の休みを利用して行う対面式のクラスやイベントは、JASC（ 4427 N. Clark St. Chicago, IL 60640）または
各イベントの指定のロケーション
業務内容：
●60分クラスを週１回で、
　○秋学期１０週間
　○冬学期１０週間
　○春学期 ６−８週間
●レッスンプラン、学習教材などを作成し、毎週の通常クラスを行う。
●生徒と保護者に連絡事項、次週のクラスの準備、宿題など、コミュニケーションを必要に応じてとる。
●オンラインクラスの計画と遂行。加えて対面式のイベントの計画と遂行。
●学期に1、2回行われるどんぐり先生ミーティング（オンライン）に参加する。
●就業時間の記録と、備品購入のレシート等の管理をする。給与の請求書を作成し、JASCに提出する。
●JASCで行われる子供や家族イベントの手伝いをする。

就業ステータス:
●契約コントラクター
●アメリカでの就業可能なビザ、またはステータスを持っていること
就業開始時期: 2021年9月から

技術、経験:
●日本語、英語の両方を使える。日本語の読み書きができる。
●ビデオカンファレンスツール、Zoomをセットアップして使う技術
●デジタルのスライド、書類、学習教材を作る技術
●子供を対象とした職歴を持っている（ボランティアも含む）
●子供に日本語と日本文化を教え伝える熱意
