The JASC Legacy Center announces the public launch of two new interactive, multimedia-based digital exhibits. Inspired by the Legacy Center’s oral history collection, these online experiences bring history to life through a uniquely Japanese American and Midwestern lens.
Tune in on September 13th to learn how a joint JASC/Chicago Japanese American Historical Society (CJAHS) project used oral histories to form the backbone of “Uprooted” and “Reckoning,” two interactive web experiences that teach Japanese American history at a secondary school level and through a distinctly midwestern lens.

The JASC Legacy Center is reviving its effort to record and preserve oral history interviews with members of the Chicagoland Japanese American community. Our goal is to record at least 20 more interviews in the first half of 2021. If you have ever considered sitting for an interview, but hesitated because you thought, “nobody would be interested in my story” or “I don’t remember much” or “I’m not who they have in mind for that project” – now is the time to re-consider!
