Day of Remembrance 2010:
Alton Takiyama-Chung’s "Heroes"
Sunday, 21 February 2010 at 2:00 P.M.
Chicago History Museum 1601 North Clark Street

Every year the Japanese American community in the Chicago area comes together to commemorate the 1942 signing of Executive Order 9066, which led to the forced incarceration of some 120,000 Americans of Japanese ancestry during WWII.
The program for the 2010 Day of Remembrance focuses on stories and their power to heal. Award-winning monologist Alton Takiyama-Chung will present his original one-man performance piece, “Heroes,” which follows two brothers in their journey from basic training to the WWII battlegrounds of Europe. In the process, they learn about courage, honor, teamwork, and the reality of war.
